Today’s Armchair BEA topics are Visual Expressions and Social Media, and because I can talk more about this topic, I chose Social Media.
How do you use social media to expand your blogging/writing horizons? Social Media is all about networking and connections, and utilizing today’s technology to the fullest. Make sure you mention your own social media pages. Do you have another blog, maybe a Tumblr? Have a Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook? Or maybe there’s an underrated social media program that you like.
I use social media to express my passion for reading in various ways as well as encourage other readers to read the books I have read or get their opinions. I enjoy getting into conversations with other readers from all around the world. The online book world is a very different crowd, which I love. I use Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, Goodreads, & YouTube daily to share my passion for reading.
YouTube— I have been posting book-related YouTube videos for a year, I don’t always attach them to my blog but they are always linked to my Twitter. My Youtube channel link is posted on the sidebar of my Tumblr and in form of an icon on my blog. I post bookish tags, monthly wrap-ups; where I show the books I’ve read for the month and my ratings/thoughts, I participate in Top 5 Wednesday a weekly group for bookish topics, as well as reviews and much more. I love the Booktube community because I can share my reading styles and opinions without any judgement. When I started my Booktube channel, I wasn’t a huge reader and I didn’t even own a bookshelf. Since booktubing I acquired a reading taste, friends and a bookshelf!
Twitter — I use Twitter to interact with other readers, authors, my friends, etc. I love participating in Twitter Chats which usually happen during readathons; as well as Twitter Sprints. This is the site/app I use on a daily basis. My Twitter is a way to get to know me because my personality really shines through on my Twitter. My tweets usually consist of fangirling.
Tumblr — On Tumblr I post my videos and some book photography. I also reblog some other things I like that are non-bookish.
Goodreads — I have been a proud Goodreads member since August 2012. Through Goodreads I am able to have a virtual tbr and see what my subscribers and friends are reading. I use all the features of Goodreads especially the group option. I have joined many groups and created some. Currently I am running a little read-along book club (Booktopia)with one of my Booktube friends and a Paper Towns read-along! I’m very active on Goodreads; I post my reviews there too. I’m also tracking my goal to read 45 books this year.
Instagram — This is my personal but bookish Instagram. I post pictures of books as well as my cat on #Caturday, Throwback Thursdays, sometimes #mcm. This is another form of interacting for me.
WordPress — I post reviews on here. Reviews of books I’ve read for my enjoyment, through NetGalley or received by a publisher. I do a lot of interacting on here as well when I post my T5W and Top Ten Tuesday. I try to comment every so often on other bloggers posts.
All in all.. I’m pretty active on Social Media.
What’s your favorite form of social media?
