Meet Don Tillman. He is an Australian genetics professor & looking for a wife. Don starts the Wife Project which is a standardized assessment he created with high expectations. Don is looking for someone exactly like him such as eating the same meal every Tuesday. Don reminded me very much of Sheldon Cooper from the Big Bang Theory, the way he talks and acts is exact to Sheldon. This is what had me hooked in the beginning!
Don seeks advice from his only friend, Gene & his wife, Claudia. Gene has an open relationship with his wife – where he goes on dates with ladies from foreign country. (Yeah, it’s weird.) Overall, Gene is an okay friend for Don. He really helps him come to his senses with the “assessment” by narrowing it down a bit.
Don searches for his wife by going on dates, speed dating, blind dating, etc. Basically, Don is bad at flirting and seeing that someone is interested in him. When seeing him on dates, you’ll just laugh-out-loud. Although, he still believes in the Wife Project. Despite Gene and Claudia’s thoughts and opinions.
One day, Rosie knocks on his door in the evening saying that Gene sent her but, she doesn’t fit any of his standards. Rosie becomes a good friend of Don’s and changes his life for the good. Rosie is such a great character, she’s witty, funny & just straight forward.
Rosie has a big role in Don’s life, she mentions that her mother had died when *Rosie* she was young and her father is her step-father. Don creates the Father Project, while still focused very little on the Wife Project. The Father Project consumes his life. He searches ways to get subject’s DNA and goes all out on this project. There are ups & downs of the Father Project but I think you’ll be surprised by the result.
Rosie and Don go on many adventures, even to NYC! This was an excellent read. It’s read like a movie because it is written as a screenplay which was fantastic. This was such a great read and I’m looking forward to reading the sequel, The Rosie Effect soon! This is the perfect adult romance novel, it’s not too much romance and has a great story line & it is set in Australia!
Go pick this up, you won’t regret it!
